How strong is your desire?

Over the past few weeks I have had a number of opportunities come to me. I have had to ask myself which is moving me closer to my ideal. Whatever dream you decide to go after, whether it is a family goal or a career goal, you must consciously decide that it is your life's mission. Benjamin Disraeli said, "The secret of success is constancy to purpose." You must go at it obsessively and set high standards for yourself along the way. There is no room for compromise when you are charting a course for your life or your career. It is either moving you closer of further away from your goal. Wes Smith, wrote a humor book called Welcome to the Real World, and in it he offered advice to fresh high-school and college graduates. He had a line in the book that pertains to the situation I faced that night. It said, "Having a drink with the boys after work every night is a bad idea. Notice that the boss doesn't do it. That is why he is the boss and they are still the boys." Wes wrote that line with one particular group of hard-partying young businessmen in mind, and five years after the book came out, he ran into one of them. The guy volunteered that he'd read that line in Wes's book and decided never to go drinking after work again. It paid off, he said. He had risen to a vice-presidency at a savings and loan. So too with you. What thinks are you saying yes to that maybe limiting where you can go? Simply, are you chasing the fire within or are you getting slightly side tracked? www.fraserstirling.co.nz

THINK AND GROW RICH-NAPOLEON HILL

Every 3 months I read the Classic Book-Think and Grow Rich.
What amazes me is that no matter how many times I read and reread the book I glean ideas and tips that help me move further ahead. Each time I read it is like I have opened it for the first time. The book has writings in the margin and dates as I glean ideas and thoughts of where I am when I read it at that time.
It shows you that no matter how well we know something that we always have things to learn.
Its exciting to learn and glean new insights as I reread. This lastest read has highlighted the importance of action. Nothing happens unless we act on the hunches and insights we get. We can cultivate the imagination and build our desire till we are burning hot with desire:

The method by which the desire for riches can be transmuted into actual riches consists of six steps:

1.Fix in your mind the exact amount of money you desire. It is insufficient merely to say, “I want plenty of money”.

2.Determine exactly what you intend to give in return for the money you desire. “Something for nothing” is a misconception.

3.Establish a definite date when you intend to possess the money.

4.Create a definite plan for carrying out your desire, and begin at once, whether you are ready or not, to put this plan into action.

5.Write out a clear, concise statement of the amount of money you intend to acquire, name the time limit for its acquisition, state what you intend to give in return for the money, and describe clearly the plan through which you intend to accumulate it.

6.Read your written statement aloud, twice daily, once just before retiring at night and once after arising in the morning. You must believe that you are already in possession of that money.

If you have got an idea and or a hunch to do something....act on it and you will find that you can think and grow rich....

Positive mental Attitude

It is often said that the rich tend to become richer and the poor to become poorer.
My own observations seem to only confirm this...

The Bible puts it this way: “For unto everyone that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance; but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.” (Matthew 13v12)

It’s also a fact that possessions are to be used, not stored.
Whatever we own, we must use or lose.

Strange, too, is the fact that only one thing is permanent in this universe – eternal change. Nothing remains exactly the same for even a second. Even the physical body in which we live changes constantly. We are either getting on with living, or we are getting on with living.

You can test these statements against your own experience.

When a person is struggling for recognition and advancement, seldom does he find anyone to give him a boost. But once he makes the grade, people stand in line to offer him help.

Through what I call the law of harmonious attraction, like attracts like in all circumstances. Success attracts success. Failure attracts more failure. Throughout our lives we are beneficiaries or victims of a force which carries us inexorably toward success or failure.

The idea is to get on the “success beam” rather than the “failure beam.”

How can you do this? Simple. The answer lies in adopting a positive mental attitude that will help you shape the course of your own destiny rather than drifting along at the mercy of life’s adversities.

You have been endowed with power to think, to aspire, to hope, to direct your life toward any goal you seek. It’s the only thing over which you have the complete unchallenged privilege of control.

But you must embrace this prerogative – and use it – or suffer severe penalties. Truly, whatever it is we possess -- material, mental or spiritual – we must use or lose.

First, clearly define the position you want to attain in life. Then say to yourself: “I can do it . . . I can do it now.”

Chart the steps you must take to reach your goal. Take them one at a time, and you’ll find that with each piecemeal success the next step comes easier as more and more people are attracted to help you achieve your ultimate purpose.
Day by day make a list of 5 things to move you closer to your goal and you will make progress each and every day.

Remember that you can’t stand still. You must move toward success or failure. The choice is yours alone
